“Intuitive Eating”: Good Nutrition Means More than Healthy Food
America has become a “foodie” nation, with a constant stream of information and debate about diets and nutrition, the latest studies, opinions and prescriptions about what we should be eating—or not. In today’s episode, nutritionist and dietician Alexandra Cerone takes a holistic, common-sensical and refreshingly non-judgmental approach to not only what we eat, but how we eat every day–what she calls “Mindful, or Intuitive Eating.” Of course, healthy eating does involve food choices, and Alexandra will talk about some of the basics of an anti-inflammatory diet, the research behind the benefits of foods like complex carbs, fats, various protein sources and daily products. Alexandra Cerone is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who works in a cancer care setting. She is motivated to improve the well-being of all individuals through mindful nutrition. Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from Queens College, City University of New York and a Master of Science degree in Speech Pathology from Adelphi University. Inspired daily by her patients and peers, Alexandra delivers nutrition-focused lectures for local community members. She has a passion for research and utilizes an approach that is rooted in evidence-based practice, intuitive eating, and integrative medicine.
