Here are some resources that may help you pay for your loved one's care
Nassau County Office for the Aging
Through the In-Home Services Program, people 60 years of age and over may receive non-medical in-home services (homemaker/personal care, or housekeeper/chore.) Eligibility for these services is determined by Office for the Aging-funded case managers.
The Nassau County NY Connects website offers a listing of providers of local home health services and personal care aides. (www.nassaucountyny.gov/PublicCRD Click Home Based Services category.)
Town of Hempstead
Hats (Home Aides to Seniors)
This program provides trained companion aides to work directly with frail elderly in their homes. Aides are independent contractors who charge $7 per hour for their services, plus transportation costs to and from the client. Referrals are made through the Department of Senior Enrichment.
Suffolk County Office for the Aging
The office provides in-home care through two programs: Expanded In-Home Services for the Elderly Program (EISEP) and the Family Caregiver Support Program. Both programs have eligibility requirements and a waiting list. For a list of local Certified Home Health Care Agencies (CHHAs) agencies that provide personal care aides, go to the Aging Office website and click In Home Care.
