Navigating the Stressful Schism of ‘Gray Divorce’

EPISODE DESCRIPTION:

While the divorce rate has declined in recent years among adults in their 20s and 30s, it has increased dramatically among people 50 and older.  In today’s episode, two veteran New York attorneys—Jennifer Cona and Sandra Radna—provide practical and relatable thoughts to help “silver splitters” navigate this complicated and emotional transition. They’ll tackle a host of questions, starting with how gray divorce is different from divorce for couples in their 30s or 40s. What legal concerns are unique to older couples? How about the need to address immediate concerns, like changes in advance directives, health insurance coverage, and beneficiaries on life insurance and retirement accounts? Jennifer and Sandra will also cover challenging estate planning issues, dividing property and retirement assets, especially in blended families? And they’ll talk about some of the critical needs during our later years, such as Social Security benefits and long-term care planning. There’s a lot to consider, and Jennifer and Sandra will offer their legal expertise, as well as their wisdom, to older adults who need thoughtful guidance before it’s too late.
