Ronald E. Roel
Ronald E. Roel is President of Roel Resources, LLC, a Long Island, NY-based editorial consulting firm that provides information services, workshops and conferences specializing in retirement, real estate, aging and financial literacy issues.
The former editor of Newsday’s Real Estate and Act 2 Retirement sections, Ron is the co-creator of “Real Estate Next,” an educational conference for the Long Island residential real estate community. He also edited Act 2’s “Ask the Expert” column and launched their previous “New Construction” column.
Over the past two decades, he held various positions at Newsday, Long Island’s premier daily, receiving several journalism awards along the way .
Ron has been a frequent speaker and participant in regional conferences, including Vision Long Island; Gerontology Professionals of Long Island, and the Nassau-Suffolk region of the New York State Public Health Association. He is also a senior writer & project consultant to the Communications and Marketing Office of the City University of NY.
Ron is the author or co-author of three books and has written numerous articles and special reports, including, “Small Businesses in a Struggling Economy: Socio-Economic Issues and Measures to Help the Small Business Climate.” He has been an instructor at several local universities, recently teaching “News Literacy” and “The History and Future of the American Press” at Stony Brook University’s Journalism School.
Raised on Long Island, Ron is a graduate of Yale College and the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. He still lives on Long Island with his wife and two sons.
